Outdated Posts

The past month has been crazy. A lot of changes goes on in my company, my work, plus packing and moving of office, which explain lack of update of this blog and no time to spree. Haha... Thank god that despite the business of my work, i can entrust my gals to my aunt and the nanny to take care of my gals daytime, and my hubby and my sister back at home at night. Some updates of my gals:

Xi is getting bigger, taller, heavier (she will tell you she is 16.4kg now), talkative and smarter. Many people tell me she looks and behaves like a 3,4 years old girl, instead of a 2 year-old girl. She can say from 1 to 30 (both languages) and count beyond 10. I am glad to secure her a place at a kindy which I like and will start next year January. However, she needs to take school bus back to my aunty's house after her school ends at noon. Hopefully she will adapt well to her school life next year and most importantly, enjoy this new episode of her young life and become a more independent little lady.

Ru is a much active baby compared to her sister at the same age. Unlike her jiejie, she loves to crawl (that leads her to more knocks here and there) and crawl really well and fast now. She has also started cruising around and can play by herself quietly longer. Food wise, her nanny has started giving her porridge on top of the pureed food which i still prepare for her. However, this gal is still toothless but we suspect her 1st tooth is sprouting out real soon because she has been drooling a lot these few days.

Baby Kai Zheng and Zhi Xuan jiejie's Birthday Bash

We went to the gals' cousins, Kai Zhen's 1 year old and Zhi Xuan's 5 years old's combine birthday bash on 19 September 2009. The gals, especially Xi have a great time playing with their gorgor, jiejie and didi. As it was near Mid-Autumn Festival, the kids had fun carrying the lanterns at the big compound outside in-laws' house.

Threading Activity

I bought this set of beads and threads for Xi in September thinking of teaching Xi on threading, as one of the more interesting activities during her JG program many months ago was threading thru corn flakes ring. That time she still needed me to hold one side of the thread for her to put the ring thru. However, when i took out 20 of these beads and thread, before I say anything, she has started to put the bead into the thread and within a few minutes, completed a colourful necklace made of the beads and presented the necklace proudly to me. She continued to thread a few more necklace each for those presents - my younger sis, my elder sis, my BIL and me. :)

Hi-5 Show

Xi's very first show is none other than her favourite Hi-5 shows which came to Singapore last week during school holidays. Hubby and I were more familiar with the old Hi-5 team which made up of Katherine, Kelly, Charlie, Tim and Nat as we bought Xi 2 DVDs (The Wonderful Journey and Making Wishes) so sometimes we will play for her during weekend mornings when there is no Hi-5 shows on TV.

The new team is made up of Casie, Stevie, Fely, Tim and Lauren which are younger and seems as much fun and TCS has started to air the new series of Hi-5 show in June.

I booked the Saturday 11am show and this mummy seemed to be more excited than Xi! Initially we planned to put Ru with my aunty in the morning then only drove to Singapore Indoor Stadium for the show. But after much contemplating, we decided to bring Ru along, praying hard she won't be over stimulated by the shows and the scream of the children.

Xi was not as excited as we thought when the show just started, but I know she loves it. She just sat on her seat and enjoyed the show quietly. It was Ru who surprised us by kicking her hands and legs heavily as if dancing with the music, and looked at the stage intensely, sometimes accompanied by screaming! It was only towards the second half of the show that Xi started to get warm up and stand on the chair to dance and sing along; and Ru, started to get cranky (due to her nap time) and soon fell asleep on my shoulder despite the noise.

Overall it was an enjoyable show about Hi-5 planning for a surprise party for their friend, Chats' birthday. So, they are throwing her a party! It’s a big, fun-filled surprise with heaps of singing, dancing and party games. It was nice to see the kids and even adults to sing and dance along with the music.

Looking bored before the start of show:

We were early:

My breastfeeding days were over

As if she knew mummy was going to stop breastfeeding on that day, she stopped waking up for night feed from that very night.

My baby, Ru... whom I breastfed for the past 7.5 months. Sorry, my baby. Mummy wish I could breastfeed you longer, maybe for 1 year. But mummy was getting very tired and recently mummy's workload is getting very heavy, making mummy find hard to pump milk and not able to produce enough milk for you.

Mummy will miss those days mummy cuddling you so closely, seeing you enjoying mummy's milk. Mummy loves you so much so much...

Ru starts crawling

Ru finally starts to crawl when she was 7 months old! But boy, how she crawls! She will lift her whole body high up then "pong", lie her chest flat to the floor. So we only dare to let her crawl on mattress or playmat, until such time she masters in crawling.

This was taken when she first start crawling, roll and crawl to her destination:

三字经 Three-Word Chant

A few weeks ago we bought a CD on 三字经 (Three-Word Chant) and played for the kids in the car. The CD is meant for babies and above and breaks down the lengthy chant into 8 sections each section made up of 32 three-word chant with a song for each section so that kids will enjoy the seemingly boring chant to enjoyable songs. The first time when we played the CD for Xi, she complained and asked us to play her favourite Hi-5 CDs instead. But after a few times, she seems to enjoy it and even start singing after the songs. We continued to play for the whole week in the car when travelling and and fro my aunt's and our house every evening and morning when she started to get bored and so we switched back to her Hi-5 CD. Surprisingly, she has memorised some of the songs and soon able to recite and sing the full first section of 96 words in complete.

It is amazing how kids can absorb things so fast whilst it takes me some memorise and reading the words to understand the meaning in order to remember the 96 words. In addition, I also notice Ru has great interest in the chant. Everytime when I sing the chant for her she will look at me happily and kick her legs and waive her hands vigorously. Well, we have 7 more sections to go which I don't think I will ever remember. Xi, now mummy and meimei count on you to sing for us the rest of the songs! :)

Bedtime song for Xi

Just want to record down this bedtime song i created for Xi. She loves to sing this song herself or with me during her bedtime:

Big Sister, Big Sister
Look at the moon, look at the star
It's night time we say Good Night

The "Big Sister" no doubt refers to Xi as she always calls herself as "Big Sister" and her meimei as "Little Sister".

Ru was jealous of Xi

Ever since I was pregnant with Ru, I have been worried of sibling rivalry between the gals and so had bought a lots of books on new baby and talked a lot to Xi to prepare her for the arrival of her meimei. All this effort seems to have paid off as Xi is taking the arrival of her meimei pretty well from the start and loves her meimei very much.

Never did I thought that Ru will be the one jealous of her jiejie especially she is only 6 months old, going to 7 months old. We were at my aunt's house 2 days ago after my work and when sitting on the floor with Ru playing on the bumper playmat, and Xi running around the living room, Xi suddenly held on to me wanted me to carry her. When Ru saw i carry her jiejie, she immediately turned her whole body to face me and yelled at me to carry her! She only stopped crying when my uncle picked her up and patted her. Haiyo, so young can get jealous liao.

It's always very cute to see these two little babies together, sitting side by side. En En is Ru's little cousin, about 1+month older than Ru. En En is very fair and smiley and at 7 months old, already can crawl very well and stand by holding on to furnitures. She even knows how to waive bye bye to people. Smart gal! Ru is still learning to crawl (now she can only reverse crawling, haha!). It will be real sweet in the future to see the two cousins playing together. :)
