The gal who eavesdrops

There were many occassions Xi would say something which caught us off guarded and wonder how come she knew, as in we never mentioned or talked about those stuff to her or directly in front of her. After some thoughts, then we realised she must have constantly overhearing our conversation and remembering them even though most of the time we just mentioned casually once and forgot afterward.

Some examples:

1) Papa was cleaning the windscreen of our car in a petrol station.

Xi: 爸爸在做什么? (What is Papa doing?)
Mummy: 洗镜子。(Cleaning the windscreen.)
Xi: 有鸟大便。 (Got bird shit.)
Mummy: Ha???
Xi: 树上有小鸟大便。 (Bird from the tree shits)
She meant the windscreen was dirtied by bird shit from tree.

2) When at 姨婆 (Yi Po)'s house,

Xi: 歙歙要进hospital了! (Xixi is going to hospital.)
Yi Po: 为什么呢? (Why?)
Xi: 因为歙歙生病。 (Because Xixi is sick.)
My aunt later asked me whether the doctor mentioned of hospital in front of her, then i recalled she actually overheard i asked her papa that time during blood test whether need to admit her to hospital if her blood test showed she has dengue.

3) During a journey to fetch hubby after work:

Mummy: Xixi, where are we going now?
Xi: 去接爸爸。(Go fetch Papa.)
Mummy: 去那理接爸爸?(Go where to fetch Papa?)
Xi: 去office接爸爸?(Go office to fetch Papa.)
Mummy: 然后呢?(After that?)
Xi: 去mam mam (eating). (Go eating.)
Mummy: Mam mam 了呢?(After eating?)
Xi: 回家找小姨吃葡萄,冲凉,喝milk milk睡觉。(Go home look for Xiao Yi to eat grapes, shower, drink milk milk sleep.)

Ru is 5 months old

My little baby has started to flip since she was 4 months old and is now an expert in flipping. She loves to flip and will flip whenever she has a chance, including when she is in her playpen time for sleep. So every night I will have to flip her back many times to ensure she does not fall asleep face down.

On Sunday she was wearing this romper which remind me of Xi wearing this same romper when she was 5 months old, so I extracted out a copy of Xi's photo wearing this romper when she was 5 months old. Haha, other than the same romper, the sisters do not look quite alike to each other anymore ya. ;p

Xi (top) and Ru (bottom):

Another milestone of Ru is she has since 4.5 months old started to hold milk bottle by herself. And now, she can hold her bottle until she finishes her milk.

Hopefully in 2 or 3 weeks time, she is able to sit unsupported and I can start her with solid food.

Xi was sick

My big princess was sick since last week. She started having high fever on Sunday but after taking her medicine, the fever remained high, so we brought her to see the GP nearby my aunty's place the next day. Dr Tan changed her medicine to a stronger kind and ask her to bring her for blood test if the fever did not subside on Wednesday.

For the following days until Wed her fever came and went and her mood swing accordingly. When the medicine took effect and her body temperature was normal, she was as active and lovely as usual but when the fever shot up, my poor gal was all cranky. So on Thursday morning, we brought her to the Pasir Ris polyclinic for blood test. Everyone needed to check for body temperature and given mask to wear. Surprisingly Xi was ok with wearing the mask thanks to the cute Mickey prints on the mask and when seeing other gorgor jiejie wearing the mask too. We even took a few photos of us wearing mask:

The blood test result showed she had low count of platelet. Dr Tan said she has viral infection but good news was her fever has started to subside. He asked us to monitor her for the next two days. If she started having red spots on her body, got to bring her back for blood test as could be dengue. Otherwise, bring her for another blood test again on Sat to make sure the platelet count has back to normal.

The next day, we were shocked to see red spots started to appear on her body and face, so quickly brought her to the polyclinic again for blood test. Thank goodness the blood test showed her platelet has gone up and doctor diagnosed the red spots was due to false measles which will subside in 5 days. During this period, she will feel uncomfortable and thus cranky. Oh, forgot to add, my big little gal did not whine or shed a tear when drawing blood for blood test in both occassions. Bravo my darling! Mummy is so proud of you! :)

Poor gal was waiting at the clinic again, the 4th time within a week. She was such a good gal when the doctor was checking on her that the doctor gave her a thumb up and praised her:

Our big princess has since recovered from her fever and back to her old self. We are glad to find our cheeky and happy little gal back. :)

Comforting Mummy

Last Sunday late afternoon I was having a terrible headache, more like dizziness, caused by the hot weather and lack of sleep. Was feeling very bad and could not eat or do anything. But anyway, we went ahead to the restaurant that evening to celebrate Father's Day with my in laws and family.

In the car to the restaurant, my big little gal was initially shouting when seeing me closing my eyes trying to rest. But after Papa told her mummy was sick, she was ok and passed me her pillow (which is rare!!!)to hold.

In the restaurant, I had no appetite to eat at all. The thought of food made me nausea and wanted to puke. Xi sat beside me quietly fed herself with the food papa put on her plate. She even fed me some vege which I took cos i could not bear to reject her. After her meal, she happily went to play with her cousins. Compared to a few months ago, I am happy to see her becoming more sociable instead of sticking to me all the time. See how cheeky she was and even crawled up to the table to play!

That night, instead of I patted her to sleep, Xi asked me to keep quiet, close my eyes and patted me to sleep... :)

To the Zoo!

Last Thursday was Bak Zhang festival and a public holiday for China. As hubby follows China's public holiday, so I also took leave on Thursday and Friday. Our first program for this long weekend was a visit to the zoo! I was pretty excited with the trip as I have not been to the Singapore zoo for a longest time and hubby does not remember he ever been there before. Ha...

We reached the zoo at around 10am and were surprised to see many visitors, young and old, at the zoo on a weekday! There were many group of students from kindergartens and primary schools. And they look so cute in their neat uniform.

This was the 2nd time Xi been to a zoo. The last time we brought her to a zoo was in December last year and it was the zoo in JB, much smaller than this one. We thought Xi will be curious and excited at seeing the animals so real and up close since she has been pretty excited to see and call out the animals' names whenever she sees them from TV or books. But she looked very cool and even cranky throughout the journey which i think could be due to the hot weather and the bad sleep she had the night before.

As for Ru, i slinged her throughout the trip which last more than 4 hours. Both of us sweat like nobody's business but she was able to sleep soundly a few times while been slinged.

Xi slept in the stroller at the end of the trip, and hubby and I finally able to stroll around the zoo leisurely. Guess we will only make another trip to zoo when both gals are bigger and able to appreciate the animals better.

Ru is 4 months old!

Ru is 4 months old today! Here's a video clip of our active, responsive and lovable 4-month old baby :)

Ru and her headband (bought for her jiejie many months ago and she refused to wear). Xi left her little bag on the bed beside Ru. Somehow Ru managed to slip her left hand to the handle of the bag. :)

Starting to flip. Neck is strong now to lift up her head for quite some time. Then came her jiejie who wanted to ride on her like she rides on her papa.

Playing with her musical mobile, a gift from papa's colleague:

Lying comfortably with jiejie:

Big Sister, Little Sister

Lately Xi has been calling herself as Big Sister, and her meimei as Little Sister, terms which she learned from a book which we always read for her. Indeed, she acts like a Big Sister much to our delight. Here's some examples:

1) When she sees meimei eating her "drumstick" (hand), she will tell meimei "不可以吃! 打打!“( Cannot bite! Beat beat!) And she really beat meimei's hands! Oh no! So we got to correct her cannot beat meimei as meimei still very small.

2) When she sees meimei crying, she will go hug meimei and say "sayang sayang!"

3) Whenever meimei cry when we go to bed, she will push me up to feed meimei, saying meimei is hungry.

4) Whenever I change meimei's diaper, she will quickly go to the basket and bring a diaper, drapolene and the wet wipe for me.

5) She likes to recite "排排坐, 吃果果,我一个,妹妹睡觉留一个."

6) Whenever Aunty Agnes (Ru's nanny) brings Ru to my aunt's house, Xi will quickly pull out the mattress and pillow for meimei to lie down.

7) She gives her bear bears, Daisy and moo moo cow to meimei.

Here's our sweet little gals. Hopefully they will remain as loving to each other forever. :)
